To travel or not to travel – that is the question!

Wandering to the train station today – a lovely 30 minute jaunt with nature which sets me up for the day – I was thinking that maybe I should try the route in silence! You see I always listen to LBC to get the gen in case someone asks me something “topical” in a meeting that day! Love to be informed so I can talk intelligently – equally love a bit of mind space!

Anyway, the debate was – should the HS2 project continue or not? Simple question! All sorts of callers and politicians and business leaders and everyone else who got through to Nick Ferrari had a view. The main debate actually was – can you not do business on Skype or Facetime or …………………? Why do people even travel now?  On the business side, a guy called. He had been managing a 200-person strong business team with people all over the world for two years. He got them all together in a conference here in the UK – with outstanding success and results in one day which would have taken one year with remote working.  And what about non-business travel? Friends, relatives …….surely we need to travel! I heard a friend say she didn’t need to visit the Taj Mahal as she could see it on Google Images! Surely we need to travel!

The media is full of ads for video interaction – Grandad keeping in touch with his grandkids’ dancing progress on the other side of the world is one which made me sad and happy at the same time. We are all told to travel less. But at the same time we are told to look out for each other, nurture friendships, encourage people to talk about their feelings……………..and be! And live in the moment and do that bucket list!

Funny world…………………… on the train to Paddington to see my Scottish client!
