This month, market leader in tile profiles and waterproofing, Schlüter-Systems, welcomed 14 members of the media to see the company’s new and impressive 980sqm facilities in Coalville, Leicestershire. The new building, which includes a gallery with 24 displays, a training facility and a huge warehouse, along with administrative support offices was in development for four years.

The Taylor Alden team was tasked with inviting the architectural, design, kitchen, bathroom, retail, heating and installer media to hear about the company, the new training facility and how Schlüter-Systems’ approach to build and retain customer loyalty.

On arrival, Alison, gave a warm welcome to our guests whilst introducing Schlüter-Systems’ senior team to everyone. The group was then invited on a tour of the company’s warehouse and distribution side of the business.

Thereafter, everyone viewed the gallery of exhibition boards (pictured above) where Andrew Curry, Training Manager at Schlüter-Systems, presented the history of the company from conception to where it is today nearly 60 years later.

It was inspiring to learn that founder, Werner Schlüter, was an installer working in the field who developed many of the installation methods and products still in use today and the company prides itself on a ‘from the installer to the installer’ approach. The Schlüter-Systems ethos which has been carried through the decades is its unwavering belief in training from the outset and knowledge of the products on offer. The company invests a huge amount of resource and time into training installers and contractors to ensure that every project Schlüter-Systems is specified for is perfectly installed from start to finish. Installers and contractors can enrol on the one-day or two-day course, depending on which product training is required, and upon completion will receive a certification with a two-year validity. The training courses are now available to bathroom retailers as end-users are beginning to understand the importance of quality waterproofing for a professional installation that will withstand the test of time and the company is moving towards the high-end residential market.

After a light lunch, the senior management presented the company’s plans for the next five years. UK MD, Joachim Backes, gave an inspiring speech where he explained, “This milestone aligns seamlessly with Schlüter’s vision to extend our reach to more installers. It underscores Schlüter-Systems’ unwavering commitment to training installers across our organisation. Our aim is, and has always been, to exceed expectations by providing the best possible solutions for tile and stone applications”.  The media took the opportunity of a Q&A session to gain useful information which was suited to their titles before a 3pm finish.

The event was a great success, and Schlüter-Systems did a superb job of hosting the media. Now it’s time for the Taylor Alden team to answer all of the bespoke requests for additional content and imagery which were discussed throughout the day, whilst analysing the results in a few months.

Thanks to all who attended.
